Originally a heart surgeon from Egypt, Youssef rose to global fame as the creator and host of Al-Bernameg (The Program), a satirical political comedy show that became the most-watched program in the history of Arab television, reaching over 30 million viewers per episode. After the show was shut down by political pressure, Youssef moved to the United States and reinvented himself as a stand-up comedian and media personality.
