Seattle Comedy Shows for Seahawks Kickoff Week

Seattle just did Bumbershoot and is already bracing for Seahawks Week 1, so yes, an indoor comedy plan counts as civic balance.

America is officially walking into football season. The NFL Week 1 schedule has Patriots at Seahawks on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 8:20 PM ET, and the Seahawks list that opener at Lumen Field for 5:20 PM PDT on NBC. That is a very Seattle kickoff, because nothing says back to routine like everybody pretending a Wednesday night can still be casual.

Seattle already warmed up the arts side of its personality too. Bumbershoot returned to Seattle Center Sept. 5 and 6 with music, art, food, Sip and Stroll, BumberWorks, and its “wonderfully weird” festival mood. So the city has basically gone from festival brain to football brain in forty-eight hours. That is not a crisis. That is just Seattle changing hoodies.

Seattle mood: go inside before the plan gets damp

Seattle is great at making outdoor ambition sound noble until the sky starts doing its little mist routine. Then everybody suddenly respects walls, roofs, and a show with an actual start time. Comedy fits that mood because it gives the night structure without making it feel responsible.

This batch has real range: Tacoma theater heat, Neptune Theatre personality, Moore Theatre polish, Paramount comfort, and a few shows built for people who want the evening to feel planned without becoming precious about it. Seattle likes smart rooms, but it also likes a laugh that does not require a seminar. These shows hit that middle.
